Sept. 24 received the insignia “For Peace and Friendship among Nations”
from the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO).
The decoration is in recognition of the ambassador’s contributions to boosting friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Algeria during his term of office in Vietnam from 2004.
Addressing the presentation ceremony, VUFO Deputy Permanent President Tran Dac Loi stressed that Ambassador Naceur Boucherit held a deep affection for the Vietnamese people and is dedicated to boosting relations between the two countries.
He supported the activities of the Vietnam Fund for Peace and Development, the Vietnam-Algeria Friendship Association and the Vietnam-Algeria Friendship Junior High School .
During his term of office in Vietnam , political relations between the two countries saw fine development and economic ties have steadily expanded.
Two-way trade between the two countries hit over 77 million USD in 2008, a 90 percent increase over 2007. Bilateral cooperation also scored successes, especially the 208 million USD project to explore and exploit oil and gas./.
