Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Vietnam made utmost efforts to ensure the success of the APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Week in Da Nang city from November 4-11, according to The Malay Mail.

Due to event’s importance in Vietnam’s policy of international integration, preparations for the Leaders Week began early and were made meticulously.

The article said that the APEC theme of “Creating New Dynamism, Fostering A Shared Future” for 2017 as well as priorities set by Vietnam were supported by APEC economies.

The theme reflects the APEC member economies’ common concern about seeking “new dynamism” for integration, connectivity and economic growth in the Asia-Pacific. It also shows APEC and Asia-Pacific’s target of “fostering a shared future” with peace, stability, development and prosperity.

As host of the event, Vietnam did its best to harmonise benefits and find common ground for differences among APEC members. The country also upholds its commitments to supporting multilateral trade in the spirit of equality, mutual benefits, voluntarism and mutual respect.

Achievements at conferences on inclusive development in economy, finance and society, cross-border e-ecommerce and startup innovation provided a basis for discussions at the APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Week, the article noticed.

The APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Week was attended by heads of the world’s leading economies like US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Founded in 1989, the 21-economy APEC is the Asia Pacific’s premier economic forum. Its primary goal is to support sustainable economic growth and prosperity in Asia-Pacific. Member economies account for 39 percent of the world population, 57 percent of the world GDP and 47 percent of the global trade, according to statistics in 2014.
