Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has suggested theAsia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) share with Vietnam experiences in buildinge-government and e-administration accumulated from its members such asAustralia, Singapore and Japan.
Deputy PM Dam made the suggestion while hosting a reception in Hanoi onMay 15 for an APICTA delegation, led by its Chairman Stan Singh, who have beenon a working visit to Vietnam.
In recent years, the Vietnamese Government has mobilized differentresources to foster the development and application of IT in all spheres in abid to step up the country’s socio-economic development, improve the business environmentand enhance the national competitiveness edge, he said.
The hosting of the APICTA Awards in 2019 will serve as a chance forVietnam to introduce its IT development and facilitate partnerships betweendomestic businesses and international partners, Dam said.
Vietnam’s IT enterprises will also have an opportunity to promote andaffirm the quality of their products and services at the APICTA Awards, theDeputy PM added.
Therefore, the Government of Vietnam will create optimal conditions for theVietnam Software and IT Service Association (VINASA) and relevant agencies towell prepare for the important event, he stressed.
APICTA Chairman Stan Singh briefed Dam about his working session withleaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications, which focused onsolutions to strengthen bilateral cooperation, foster the development andinnovation of ICT in Asia Pacific and a plan to organise the APICTA Awards inVietnam next year.
The awards are designed to honour outstanding products, softwaresolutions, IT and startups of APICTA members.
The two sides also discussed the adding of prizes for products andsolutions related to e-government, e-administration, smart city, and smartagriculture.
APICTA is an alliance of national IT organisations representing theirrespective economy to build, enhance a network to promote IT, promotetechnology innovations, capability and adoption and encourage the developmentof indigenous IT solutions to the global market.
The alliance now has 16 member-economies include Australia, Bangladesh,Brunei, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong(China), Indonesia, Japan, Macao (China), Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Singapore,Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
Vietnam participated in APICTA in 2016. The VINASA brought the bestVietnamese IT products and services to the APICTA Awards two years ago. TheAPICTA Awards 2018 will be held in China’s Guangzhou province in October.-VNA
