April CPI increases by 0.08 percent

Vietnam’s CPI in April increases slightly by 0.08 percent from the previous month.

Vietnam’s Consumer Price Index(CPI) in April increases slightly by 0.08 percent from the previousmonth and 4.45 percent year-on-year.

Accordingto the General Statistics Office, the upward trend was recorded in 10out of the 11 commodity baskets with the rates ranging from 0.04 -0.33 percent. The smallest increase was seen in the medicine andhealthcare services, while the biggest hike belonged to the group oftransportation.

Only the group of housing,electricity, water, fuel and building materials saw a downward trend at0.56 percent in April, which was attributable to the decreases in pricesof gas and kerosene.

The central province of ThuaThien-Hue experienced the highest rise of CPI with 0.27 percent. It wasfollowed by Can Tho city (0.19 percent), Hai Phong city (0.13 percent),and Hanoi and Da Nang cities (0.12 percent).

Meanwhile, declines were recorded in several localities, includingcentral Khanh Hoa province (0.15 percent) and Ho Chi Minh City (0.04percent).

The May CPI is predicted to increase slightly by 0.1 – 0.2 percent from that of April.-VNA
