Beijing (VNA) – The 9 th ASEAN-China Prosecutors General Conference opened in China’s Nanning city, Guangxi province on November 25, under the theme of “ International Cooperation on Fugitive Repatriation and Asset Recovery”.
The Vietnamese delegation to the event was led by head of the Supreme People’s Procuracy Nguyen Hoa Binh.
Delegates at the conference emphasized the need to have the necessary legal framework and the commitment to intensify international cooperation in order to effectively repatriate fugitives and to remove the ill-gotten gains from the criminals.
Speaking at the event, the Vietnamese chief prosecutor hailed the importance of the conference, stressing the need for close cooperation between law enforcement agencies in the fight against crimes, especially transnational crime and cyber crime.
He also pointed out existing obstacles in the field, including the differences in legal and judicial systems among countries, difficulties in proving crime and checking origin of assets, and obstruction caused by different points of view and clashing interests.
The conference signed a joint statement and agreed to organise the 10th conference in Laos next year.-VNA
Vietnamese, Chinese procurators talk cooperation
