The “ASEAN great unity days - One vision, one identity, one community” will be organised at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Hanoi on November 21-23, aiming at enhancing mutual understanding and connection among the bloc’s member states.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on November 17 that the opening ceremony will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television (VTV). The highlight of the ceremony will be art performances by Vietnamese artists to honour the solidarity of the ASEAN community.

The three-day event themed “Solidarity-Cooperation-Development” will offer a special chance for ASEAN member countries to introduce their land, people and culture as well as their efforts in preserving and upholding the region’s cultural heritage values, thus contributing to building a united and dynamic ASEAN Community and a region of peace, prosperity and development.

It is also expected to help Vietnam improve its role in promoting cooperation within ASEAN and introduce the rich culture of the nation’s 54 ethnic groups.

A wide range of activities are planned during the days, including an ASEAN flag hoisting ceremony, art performances and activities to promote ASEAN culture and tourism.

On the occasion, host Vietnam will present some of its world-recognised intangible cultural heritages such as Ca Tru (ceremonial singing), Quan Ho (traditional love duet singing) and Hue royal court music.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) comprises Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.-VNA
