ASEAN, Japan, RoK have potential for digital transformation collaboration

Malaysia has encouraged strategic collaboration in digital transformation between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its dialogue partners, Japan and the Republic of Korea (RoK), at the bloc's Plus One Summits in Vientiane, Laos, on October 10.

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - Malaysia has encouraged strategic collaboration in digital transformation between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its dialogue partners, Japan and the Republic of Korea (RoK), at the bloc's Plus One Summits in Vientiane, Laos, on October 10.

As reported by Malaysia’s national news agency Bernama, at the 27th ASEAN-Japan Summit, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim pointed out the need to strengthen cooperation on supply chains and the advancement of artificial intelligence between the 10-member bloc and Japan.

Meanwhile, at the 25th ASEAN-RoK Summit, he said the digital collaboration should include capacity building, upskilling and strategic diversification of human resources.

The ASEAN Plus One Summits were held as part of the ongoing 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits, which began on October 9.

The ASEAN region has a population of over 700 million people, spans an area of 4.5 million sq.km, and recorded a total GDP of 3.62 trillion USD in 2022./.
