Australia: Vietnam a key partner

Australian Prime Minister’s Special envoy Angus Houston has said that his country always considers Vietnam as one of its important partners and wishes to further facilitate overall cooperation, especially in economics, trade, investment, education, culture and defence-security.

The special envoy, who is on aworking visit to Vietnam, made the remarks while meeting with VietnameseDeputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Hanoi on May 28.

Informing the host on the outcomes of working sessions with theMinistry of Public Security and the Border Guard High Command, Houstonstressed that Australia will do its utmost to ensure peace andstability in the region and the world, while at the same time supportcooperative activities between the two countries in all realms.

The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed Houston’s visit, saying that itis of importance to the two countries’ relations, and expressed hisdelight with the fine development in bilateral ties in all fields.

He highly valued the effective support and cooperation thatAustralia has provided to Vietnam in the fields of OfficialDevelopment Assistance (ODA), health and education-training as well aspoverty reduction projects.

The host suggested thetwo sides increase all-level delegation exchanges,investment-trade-economic ties and other practical measures to mark 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his hope that in the time to comethe two sides will work closely together in matters of mutual concern,such as migration and immigration, to make further contributions to theVietnam-Australia friendship and cooperation.-VNA

To further strengthen Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially parliamentary cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly between parliamentary committees and friendship groups. They also pledged to share legislative and supervisory experience, coordinate positions in international organisations, support each other’s candidacies for UN bodies, and effectively implement the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
