- Party General Secretary To Lam, his spouse and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation attended a military parade marking the 80th anniversary of Victory over Fascism in Astana on May 7 (local time), as part of their ongoing state visit to Kazakhstan.

The event, broadcast live across the capital and major cities via public LED screen, also saw the presence of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Read full story

- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam, accompanied by his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, on May 7 visited the Ethno-Village (Etno-Aul), a unique destination in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also joined the visit. Read full story

- State President Luong Cuong has urged officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Navy to strengthen solidarity, remain proactive, flexible, and creative, and seize opportunities to overcome challenges and excellently accomplish all assigned tasks, resolutely safeguarding national sovereignty over seas and islands.

Addressing a ceremony hosted by the Vietnam People's Navy in the northern city of Hai Phong on May 7 to mark its 70th founding anniversary (May 7, 1955 - 2025) , Cuong requested the naval force to continuously uphold the noble traditions of the nation, the heroic Vietnam People's Army and its glorious legacy, and stay committed to well performing their mission. - Party General Secretary To Lam’s upcoming state visit to Azerbaijan is expected to further enhance political trust between the two countries and send a clear message that Vietnam remains committed to continuously strengthening its traditional friendship with countries of the former Soviet Union, including Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan is the second stop on Party General Secretary Lam’s official tour, accompanied by his spouse and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Russia, and Belarus from May 5 to 12. - On behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on May 6 extended congratulations to Russia on the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Speaking at a banquet held Hanoi to celebrate the anniversary (May 9, 1945 - 2025), Ha and other participants commemorated millions of soldiers and Soviet people who sacrificed their lives to create the immortal heroic epic, defeat fascism, and open an era of peaceful development and prosperity for mankind. - Lawmakers scrutinised a draft resolution on supplements and amendments to several articles of the 2013 Constitution presented by National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh at their sitting on May 7 as part of the 9th session of the 15th NA.

Dinh, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the committee for drafting supplements and amendments to the Constitution, stated that the amendments must ensure the absolute, comprehensive, and direct leadership of the Party; comply with the Political Platform, the Party Charter, and principles and regulations set by the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat. - Vietnam secured nearly 13.82 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first four months of 2025, marking a year-on-year surge of 39.9%, according to the Ministry of Finance’s Foreign Investment Agency.

While newly-registered capital declined by 23.8% to 5.59 billion USD, additional capital injections into existing projects increased nearly 3.9 times to 6.4 billion USD. Capital contributions and share purchases in the four months reached 1.83 billion USD, or a 2.1-fold increase year-on-year. Read full story

- Thousands of Buddhist monks, nuns, and devotees gathered at Vietnam Quoc Tu Pagoda in District 10, Ho Chi Minh City on May 6 to venerate the heart relic of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc, a revered Vietnamese monk who self-immolated in 1963 in protest of religious repression.

The veneration ceremony, held within the framework of the United Nations Day of Vesak Celebrations 2025, was announced to begin at 2 pm on the day. However, people lined up outside the pagoda hours earlier. Read full story

Vietnam is also the only Southeast Asian country listed in the top 10, surpassing other competitors in the region, such as the Philippines (ranking 18th), Singapore (25th), Thailand (36th), Indonesia (37th), and Malaysia (39th)./. Read full story

Vietnam, Laos boost youth cooperation, education

The Lao Vice President asked the Central Committees of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) and the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union (LPRYU) to continue enhancing coordination to effectively implement their 2022–2027 cooperation agreement, especially in youth exchanges and education of younger generations about the countries’ traditional ties.
