Australian importers appreciate Vietnamese seafood

The statement was made at apress conference in Ho CHi Minh City on June 25, which was organised bythe Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the VietnamAssociation of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) and SIAA.

Internationalmedia reporting that Vietnam’s fisheries do not ensure hygiene safetystandards and contain high antibiotic residue is the biggest barrierthat prevents Vietnam’s seafood exports to Australia, stressed Grant.

Afterthe fact-finding trip, participated by SIAA representatives and anumber of Australian reporters, accurate information about Vietnam’sseafood will be issued, said the chairman, adding that it will be veryhelpful to Australian consumers.

According to Grant, his delegation will discuss and broadcast what they found during its trip to Vietnam to Australians.

Australiaimports around 200,000 tonnes of seafood every year, a quarter of whichis from Vietnam. Last year, Vietnam’s seafood exports to Australiareached 182 million USD.-VNA

FDI inflow into Vietnam surges by nearly 40% in four months
