Bac Giang attaches importance to e-commerce, international economic integration

Bac Giang (VNA) – Bac Giang province has set a target that by 2025, all modern supermarkets, trade centres, distribution facilities, and electricity/water/ telecommunications/ communication suppliers in the province will use electronic payment methods.

The province will strive to improve and maintain the province's e-commerce index, including indicators on human resources and information technology infrastructure, business-to-consumer (B2C), business-to-business (B2B), and government-to-business (G2B).

Up to 60% of the local enterprises are expected to join the province's e-commerce trading floor and other platforms, and half of the businesses in the province have websites to promote their brands and products.

From now to 2025, Bac Giang will focus on improving the capacity to manage and organise e-commerce activities, and fighting against commercial frauds, infringement of intellectual property rights, and unfair competition in e-commerce.

According to Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Phan The Tuan, from now to 2025, the locality will continue to attach importance to e-commerce development and international economic integration.

The province planned to strengthen the capacity of infrastructure systems and services facilitating e-commerce, promote e-commerce applications to support key export industries, expand consumption of domestic goods and apply new technologies in e-commerce, and support enterprises’ digital transformation process.

The locality will organise annual e-commerce events, and promote linkage among the business community from manufacturers, and distributors to infrastructure service providers for e-commerce.

In addition, Bac Giang is supporting businesses to deploy and encourages people and businesses to use secure payment solutions in e-commerce transactions; formulating and implementing policy solutions to increase the proportion of domestic goods on online trading floors; and developing systems of authentication and credit rating of businesses and consumers in e-commerce with the participation of State management agencies, media units, associations, enterprises, and consumer protection organisations.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Phan The Tuan added that from now to 2025, Bac Giang will continue to pay attention to effectively implementing Directive No26/CT-TTg dated September 4, 2018, of the Prime Minister on promoting international economic integration in line with the province's socio-economic development.

According to the Bac Giang Department of Industry and Trade, from 2020 to now, e-commerce activities have been carried out methodically in the province.

Relevant agencies have provided training and support for businesses, cooperatives, production facilities, and farmers to participate in major domestic and foreign e-commerce platforms such as Amazon.com, Alibaba.com, Postmart.vn, Voso.vn, Sendo.vn, Shopee.vn, Lazada.vn, and Tiki.vn.

The province has supported 15 local businesses and cooperatives to build an online brand identity and create their booths on e-commerce platforms.

Regarding international economic integration, the province has worked with Vietnamese embassies and trade offices in other countries to introduce the province’s potential and strengths. Provincial authorities are actively coordinating with overseas Vietnamese representative offices and related agencies to support local enterprises to expand export markets, promote trade, and tourism, and attract investment./.
