Bac Lieu promotes tourism in north of National Highway 1A

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu has brought into full play its advantages like the river network and large-scale rice fields in the northern part of National Highway 1A to promote its tourism.

Bac Lieu (VNA) – The Mekong Deltaprovince of Bac Lieu has brought into full play its advantages like the rivernetwork and large-scale rice fields in the northern part of National Highway 1Ato promote its tourism.

The northern part of National Highway 1A, encompassingPhuoc Long, Hong Dan, Vinh Loi and Hoa Binh districts, and Gia Rai town, has strengthin spiritual tourism thanks to its churches and pagodas, said Director of theprovincial Department of Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism Tran Thi LanPhuong.

It is also home to historical relic sites, traditionalfestivals and special cuisines of different ethnic groups, she added.

According to the official, Bac Lieu aims to boostagriculture-based tourism, craft village tourism, eco-tourism and community-basedtourism in the north of National Highway 1A.

It will invest in parks and theme streets, andorganise big events, art programmes, workshops and exhibitions to promotetourism in the area.

The province encourages strategic investors in large eco-tourismsites and complexes and projects upholding cultural and historical values of localtourism destinations and craft villages.

It has proposed competent agencies speed up investmentin such expressways like Can Tho-Ca Mau and Ha Tien-Rach Gia-Bac Lieu, as well as expandedand upgraded major routes to facilitate tourism.

The locality has also organised field trips for delegationsof other cities and provinces, travel firms and agencies that want to scope outits tourism market, Phuong said./.

The “I Love My Fatherland” journey will comprise seven stages linked to historical, cultural and revolutionary sites across the country. The journey will begin in Nghe An on May 16 to mark President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday, before continuing through Hue city, Tuyen Quang–Lung Cu Flag Tower, Dien Bien, Khanh Hoa, Ca Mau and Ho Chi Minh City, and concluding in Hanoi in October.

Education ministry targets five digital technology incubators at universities

A key target under the new plan is the establishment of five digital technology incubators, or Deeptech Hubs, at universities and research institutes with strong potential. Vietnam Customs expands capacity to tackle cross-border narcotics crime

Established in November 2025, the NTC comprises six officers from the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Sub-Department specialising in surveillance, intelligence collection and information analysis. The centre is tasked with strengthening customs capacity in risk assessment and drug crime targeting, helping authorities detect and prevent illicit cross-border trafficking of narcotics and other dangerous substances at an early stage.
