BBCRadio quoted an electronics dealer named Nguyen Thanh Son as sayingthat the fire was found starting at around 3 and 4 am, when a number ofcontainers of goods were being transported into the mart.

The market is officially open from 9 every morning.

Authorities said they had sent out some 25 fire-fighter squads fromWarsaw and surrounding localities instantly after receiving emergencysignals. The accident was covered live by Polish press and televisions.

It was reported that the fire has caused bankruptcy to almost allVietnamese traders there as none of them was believed to have boughtcommodity insurances.

The Wolka Kosowka trade centre was originally a building constructed byoverseas Chinese in late 1090s. Since 2000, Vietnamese in Poland rentedkiosks there to do business, making it a busy market to supply goodsfor Polish people and neighbouring countries.

To meet an increasing demand, people of the Chinese, Turkish andVietnamese origins have rushed in to build more blocks of buildings,including warehouses and boarding houses./.

Tien Giang steps up efforts to eliminate substandard houses

According to the Tien Giang People’s Committee, 485 homes for policy beneficiaries, families of war martyrs, and low-income households will be supported. Of these, 284 new homes will be built, and 201 existing ones repaired, with a total budget of 24.1 billion VND (about 984,000 USD). As of March 6, construction had started on 166 houses, with 32 already completed.

Bac Giang to eliminate substandard houses by November

Local authorities have identified 795 homes of poor and near-poor households and individuals with recognised service to the nation that qualify for support. Of these, 475 require complete reconstruction and 320 need significant repairs, with estimated costs totaling 39 billion VND (1.53 million USD).
