Binh Thuan (VNA) – The People’s Committee of Binh Thuan, which hosts the Visit Vietnam Year 2023, is implementing a project on ensuring security and safety in tourism activities, with an aim to make the south-central province a safe, friendly and quality destination.
Accordingly, Binh Thuan is striving to improve the efficiency of state management of security and order in the tourism sector, strengthen the close coordination between departments, sectors and localities to well implement the task of safeguarding national security, social safety and order in association with tourism development during the Visit Vietnam Year 2023 themed "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence".
The province is promoting its sound implementation of guidelines and policies on the management of accommodation, travel and other tourism activities; ensure political, economic and internal security of tourism business units, organisations, and agencies; and ensure security and safety for national and international traditional and non-traditional events and festivals.
The provincial People's Committee has requested the Department of Public Security to coordinate with relevant departments, sectors and localities in the State management of security and order in the tourism field; fight against and prevent crimes that take advantage of tourism to infringe upon national security and harming social order and safety; and strengthen the management over cyber security, entry, exit and transit activities, and activities of foreigners in the locality.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is tasked to guide and support tourism businesses to participate in promotion activities through various forms in accordance with current trends; and maintain dissemination of destinations on Binh Thuan’s tourism website, social networking sites and provincial Tourism Portal.
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Visit Vietnam Year is a both a national and international cultural, economic, social, and tourist event. It is also the biggest annual tourism event in Vietnam, offering opportunities to attract domestic and international tourists through the promotion of images, tangible and intangible cultural values, natural resources, as well as the development of linkages between localities.
The Visit Vietnam Year 2023 includes more than 200 events and activities.
With 192km of coastline, Binh Thuan province is home to islands, islets, coves, bays, and white sand beaches with clear blue water, which form famous tourist attractions. The province has many tourism resources with many historical-cultural relics and traditional festivals. Currently, it has nearly 900 accommodation establishments with over 17,000 rooms, including 45 hotels and resorts from three to five stars with nearly 5,000 rooms. The province has 13 travel agencies, including eight international travel agencies.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2019, Binh Thuan welcomed over 6.4 million visitors who spent 15.2 trillion VND (646.8 million USD). The province's tourism contribution to the GRDP accounted for 10-12%.
In 2022, the province welcomed over 5 million visitors with a revenue of 12.8 trillion VND. It aims to attract about 6.5 million visitors, including more than 200,000 foreigners, this year.
According to a report by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Binh Thuan estimates to welcome 4.5 million tourists in the first half of this year, up 86% year-on-year. Of the total, there are more than 135,000 foreigners, a 4.4-fold increase compared to that of the same period last year. Revenue from tourism is estimated at 11.3 trillion VND, a 1.5-fold rise against the same period last year./.
