Binh Thuan continues to step up development of industry, tourism, agriculture

The People’s Committee of the south central province of Binh Thuan has requested provincial departments and sectors to continue restructure the economy and boost development of all spheres, especially the three pillars of industry, tourism and agriculture in the second half of this year.

Binh Thuan (VNA) - The People’s Committee of the south central province of Binh Thuan has requested provincial departments and sectors to continue restructure the economy and boost development of all spheres, especially the three pillars of industry, tourism and agriculturein the second half of this year.

At a meeting of the provincial People's Committee on June 8, it asked units to continue with support measures to encourage firms to developpost-harvest preservation and processing industries, especiallyagro-forestry-aquatic and local signature products.

In the first half ofthis year, the province’s gross regional domestic product(GRDP) grew by an estimated 7.76% year on year, helping Binh Thuan rank 11th out of the country's 63 cities and provinces. The value of industrial production rose by 3.51%.

With the inauguration of Dau Giay – Phan Thiet expressway, Binh Thuan also welcomedover 4.5 million tourists, up 86% year on year. Of them, more than 135,000 wereforeigners, marking an annual 4.4-fold increase. Tourismrevenue surpassed 11.3 trillion VND VND (491 million USD), a 1.5-fold rise year-on-year. Theprovince successfully held the opening ceremony and activities of the Visit Vietnam Year 2023 themed "Binh Thuan – Green Convergence".

The province directed the acceleration ofpublic capital disbursement and urged the swift progress of key projects and thosesignificant to its socio-economic development. As of early June, it disbursedover 1.29 trillion VND, or 26.54% of the plan.

Since the beginning of thisyear, relevant units have improved investment promotion activities andattracted strategic investors. The province has approved 13 projects with total registered capital of 642 billion VND and permitted 13others to add over 5.8 trillion VND to their existing capital./.
