Some 5,000 units of blood were expected to be collected during theday, helping ease the shortage of blood in medical treatment after theLunar New Year (Tet) festival.
In the morning of Feb. 20, 8,000 people, including Health Minister Nguyen Quoc Trieu, registered to donate blood.
According to the National Institute of Hematology and BloodTransfusion, the festival, themed “Share red blood, give hope”,attracted the participation of 20,000 people.
On the occasion,Vice State President Doan presented insignias to the event’s threeorganisers, including the National Institute of Hematology and BloodTransfusion, the Hanoi Steering Committee on Voluntary Blood Donationsand the Hanoi Youth Volunteers for Blood Donation./.
