The Boeing Company and Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation (VVAF) inaugurated a primary school in Tan Minh commune, Da Bac district, northern mountainous Hoa Binh province, on January 28.
The 6-classroom school Tan Minh A worth 115,000 USD, jointly financed by Boeing Company and local authorities, is part of a project funded by Boeing and co-managed by VVAF which so far helped build 25 new schools in Vietnam.
The school’s principal Le Anh Hung said the cooperation between the Boeing Company and VVAF together with local authorities create better conditions for studying and teaching.
US non-governmental organisation VVAF began its operation in Vietnam since1994, focusing on dealing with war consequences through programmes such as explosive ordnance disposal, mental health care, education and supporting people with disabilities, especially Agent Orange/dioxin victims.
In 2012-2013, the Boeing Company, through VVAF, has financed the construction of three primary schools in northern mountainous provinces of Hoa Binh, Thai Nguyen and Cao Bang.-VNA
