Cambodia’s National Election Committee (NEC) has announced that campaigning for the country’s second council polls at district level and above will take place from May 2-16.

The elections will be held on May 18 and select 3,324 council members, up 70 people from the first tenure as Cambodia has established one more province and three new districts in the capital Phnom Penh.

According to the committee, the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) has the largest number of candidates standing for election.

It is followed by the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), National United Front for an Independent, Neutral, Peaceful and Cooperative Cambodia (FUNCINPEC), and the League for Democracy Party.-VNA
