During the first week of the campaign from May 2-10,Cambodia’s participating parties held canvasses at their headquartersand public places and staged parades in the capital city Phnom Penh andsome provinces, in accordance with rules prescribed by the NEC, theirreport said.
No cases of violence were reported during theweek. The opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) carried outits campaign in Phnom Penh and eight other localities while the UnitedFront for an Independent, Neutral, Peaceful and Cooperative Cambodia (FuncinpeC) met with representatives of commune councils at theirprivate houses.
The campaign will end on May 16.
Fivepolitical parties of Cambodia are running for the local election,slated for May 18, and as many as 11,459 voters will go to the polls.
To date, 485 observers from Cambodia’s parties and 107 from abroad have registered to oversee the election.-VNA
