Buenos Aires (VNA) – The Argentine newspaper Resumen Latinoamericano recently published an article highlighting Vietnam’s orientation for developing circular economy to serve sustainable development, as promoted by the Party and State.
The article emphasised that the circular economy is a key development priority of Vietnam in the 2021 – 2030 period, with a vision to 2045, aiming to achieve the goals of waste management, efficient use of natural resources, environmental protection, disaster prevention, and climate change response.
It spotlighted Vietnam’s efforts to implement a circular economy plan to drive innovation; boost labour productivity; and develop new value chains, noting that circular economy principles have been integrated into many strategies, programmes, projects, and development plans at national and local levels.
The newspaper also reports on the draft national action plan for developing the circular economy compiled by the Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and submitted to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for issuance, which focuses on high-potential sectors such as transportation, agriculture, construction, waste management, industry, and chemicals.
It cited Ramla Khalidi, Resident Representative of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam, urging the country to focus on key sectors such as agriculture, electronics, plastics, textiles, and building materials, and stating that UNDP will support Vietnam in meeting international standards and unlocking new opportunities for sustainable growth./.
