Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni will issue a royal decree asking the newly-elected National Assembly to convene its first meeting on September 23.

In a letter dated September 9 to the President of the Cambodian National Election Committee, the King said he will invite all the deputies in the list announced by the committee to take part in the meeting to be held at the headquarters of the parliament.

According to the list announced on September 8, the ruling Cambodian People’s Party won 68 seats while the opposition Cambodian National Rescue Party got the remaining 55. However, the opposition still rejects the results on the charges that there were irregularities during the election held on July 28.-VNA
