Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen arrived in Hanoi on December 26,starting his three-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation ofPrime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
Vietnam is the first country Hun Sen has visited after his reelection as Cambodian Prime Minister.
He was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of ForeignAffairs and International Cooperation Hor Nam Hong, Senior Minister incharge of border affairs Var Kimhong, Senior Minister and Minister ofCommerce Sun Chanthol, Minister of Justice Ang Vong Vathana, Minister ofInformation Khieu Kanhrith, Minister of Economy and Finance Aun PornMoniroth, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Hang Chuon Naron, andMinister attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary General of theCambodian Council for Development Sok Chenda Sophea.
Thevisit aims to affirm the special relations between the two countries andboost their cooperation in various areas, including economics, tradeand investment, while exchanging issues of common concerns.
Vietnam and Cambodia set up diplomatic ties on June 24, 1967, marking amilestone in the two countries’ fraternal and neighbouringrelationship.
In recent years, trade ties betweenthe two countries have developed unceasingly. Two-way trade in 2012reached 3.3 billion USD and 2.94 billion USD in the first 10 months ofthis year.-VNA
