Beijing (VNA) – Chinese media made extensive coverage of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s official visit to the country, as well as his attendance at the 13th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) from September 10-15.

The People’s Daily ran on the front page an article on the meeting between PM Phuc and Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.

The host was quoted by the article as saying that “it is in our greatest common strategic interests that China and Vietnam adhere to Communist Party leadership and the socialist system.”

Xi called on the two sides to hold more high-level visits, promote strategic connectivity, strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and enhance people-to-people exchanges, the article said.

At present, China-Vietnam relations are sound, Xi said, expressing his hope that both sides will promote the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, according to the article.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc said Vietnam regards its ties with China as the country's foreign policy priority.

He said his country is willing to work with China to enhance political trust, promote cooperation, and manage and control differences, the article noted.

Xinhua News Agency also posted many articles and photos on the Vietnamese PM’s visit.

It said PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhang Dejiang and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Yu Zhengsheng, reached several important common perceptions.

The visit will help promote the expansion of cooperation and connect the two countries’ socio-economic development strategies, increase people-to-people exchanges and elevate the partnership to a new height, the agency said.

Covering the talks between PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang, China Radio International said both leaders agreed that they don't want disputes in the region to overshadow the relationship between the two countries.

The Global Times cited Xu Liping, a senior Southeast Asian studies researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, as saying that PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s visit has contributed to stabilising the situation in the East Sea.-VNA
