Hanoi (VNA) – A festival on the colours and fragrances of the northern mountainous region will take place in Hanoi from November 21-23.
At a press conference on November 17, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien said the festival aims to mark the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23) and honour tangible and intangible cultural heritages of ethnic groups in the northern mountainous region.
The opening ceremony with a special art programme will be held on November 21 while the closing ceremony will take place on November 23.
The festival will attract the participation of 10 provinces – Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Bac Kan, Bac Giang, Son La, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Vinh Phuc and Hanoi.
It will include an exhibition on cultural colours of northern mountainous ethnic groups, folk singing and dancing, a show of traditional costumes and a cuisine festival.
The daily activities of people in the mountainous region, the wedding ceremony of Dao Do (Red Dao) ethnic people and the maturity ritual for growing-up boys of San Diu ethnic people will be re-enacted during the event.-VNA
