The construction of a Vietnam Buddhist Academy commenced with a ceremony in Ngu Tay hamlet, An Tay ward, Hue city of central Thua Thien-Hue province.
Covering 4.95 hectares, the academy has a total cost of 470 billion VND (21 million USD), 200 billion VND of which is sponsored by Vingroup and the remaining comes from the Buddist Sangha of Vietnam in Hue and donations of domestic and foreign donors.
The academy’s main components include a cultural centre, an educational and training centre, an executive centre, an information technology-library centre, lecture halls, a meeting hall, accommodations for students.
Upon completion, the school will offer undergraduate and tertiary programmes and is expected to become the Buddhist training centre for the central and Central Highlands regions.-VNA
