Dak Lak leaders extend X-mas greetings to religious dignitaries

Dak Lak (VNA) – The People’s Committee of the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak held a gathering to extend Christmas greetings to local religious dignitaries on December 13.

At the event, the province’s officials briefed the dignitaries on the local socio-economic situation in 2018. Accordingly, the province fulfilled 17 out of 18 goals set for the year, with the economy growing 7.82 percent, State budget collection hitting 5.5 trillion VND (237.12 million USD), and income per capita reaching 41.1 million VND (1,772 USD).

Local social welfare policies were carried out synchronously and business climate was improved.

Dak Lak is home to 610,000 religious followers, accounting for 32 percent of the province’s population. Of the total, there are over 217,000 Catholics and 193,000 Protestants. Religious activities have taken place in line with the law, with many religious units actively joining local social, health, educational, and charity work.

At the gathering, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Canh wished the dignitaries and followers a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

He asked the religious community to promote their solidarity, active participation in social campaigns, and respect for the Party’s and Government’s policies and laws.

The official hoped the group will make further contributions to the development of Dak Lak.-VNA
