Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - Theclosing ceremony of the 2017 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 2017) will beheld on August 30, one day earlier than planned.
Minister of Youth and Sports Khairy Jamaluddin ofMalaysia, the host of the biggest regional event, made the statement at a pressconference on April 12.
He said the initial date, August 31, is the eveof the key holiday for Muslims – Hari Raya Haji.
He affirmed that the change will not affect theoverall schedule of the sport event.
There will be some changes made to thereschedule of some sport events, but all events will finish by August 30, theMinister added.
SEA Games 2017 will take place from August 19 –30 in Malaysia with the participation of 11 Southeast Asian countries. It isthe sixth time Malaysia has hosted the biennial games.-VNA

attention shifted to Malaysia, the host of the 2017 games.
