Deal signed to promote Prime Minister’s 1-billion-tree initiative

The Government’s e-Portal Chinhphu.vn, Vietnam Television (VTV) Digital, and property developer Novaland signed an agreement on March 19 for cooperation in sustainable development, with focus placed on the planting of 10 million trees in several localities.

Hanoi (VNA) - The Government’s e-Portal Chinhphu.vn, VietnamTelevision (VTV) Digital, and property developer Novaland signed an agreement onMarch 19 for cooperation in sustainable development, with focus placed on theplanting of 10 million trees in several localities.

The tree-planting programme aims to help translate Vietnam’s goal of planting1 billion new trees by 2025 into reality. The goal was initiated by PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc last November.

Under the agreement, Chinhphu.vn and VTV Digital will provide Novalandwith support in communicating information about the 10-million-tree-plantingprogramme, with between 1 and 2 million trees to be planted in Vietnam thisyear.

Nguyen Hong Sam, Director-General of the Government’s e-Portal, saidNovaland is the first company in the country to respond to the PM’s 1-billion-treeinitiative. He hoped that the number of trees planted under the programme willnot just reach 10 million but go even higher.

He also pledged that the Government’s e-Portal and VTV Digital willcontinue to accelerate communications campaigns on the 1-billion-treeinitiative around the country./.

Northern region to experience cold spell

The cold air is forecast to reach northeastern Vietnam from the evening and night of October 4 before spreading to other parts of the north and the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue. Winds will shift to the northeast at levels 2-3 inland and levels 3-4 along coastal areas.

Floods affect over 16,000 homes, nearly 25,000ha of crops

The floods submerged and damaged 22,499ha of rice, crops and vegetables, along with 2,172ha of other crops. A further 1,175.62ha of aquaculture areas were affected. Some 1,999 metres of irrigation canals were eroded or damaged, while 15 schools were flooded.

Heavy rains cause widespread damage in Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa

Covering a total area of 3,182ha, the conservation area comprises 3,016.81ha of natural forest, 64.25ha of plantation forest and 100.94ha of land without forest, with no water surface area. It is located in the Ly Thuong Kiet, Tam Chuc and Nguyen Uy wards of Ninh Binh province.
