Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh valued the United Nations’support for Vietnam’s preparation and participation in UN peace-keepingactivities during his meeting with UN Under-Secretary General forPeacekeeping Operations Herve Ladsous in Hanoi on June 9.
Vietnam will send officers, military medical and engineering units to UN missions in the coming time, he said.
Vinh proposed the UN provide training materials and experts in peace-keeping activities for Vietnam.
TheUN official lauded Vietnam’s joining in peace-keeping operations inSouth Sudan and the Central African Republic, and affirmed the UN’ssupport for the country’s participation in peace-keeping activities aswell as for the Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre.
Vietnam’s presencehas showed the country’s responsibility and determination in taking partin the UN’s peace-keeping operations, Herve Ladsous said.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed orientation for future cooperation in the field between Vietnam and the UN.-VNA
