Deputy FM receives ambassadors, chargés d’affaires of EU member states

Hanoi (VMA) - Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang hosted a tea gathering on August 28 for ambassadors and chargés d’affaires from the UK, Switzerland, Norway, and EU member states in Hanoi on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's August Revolution, National Day and the diplomatic service, and 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties of Vietnam and the EU.

Deputy FM Hang invited foreign diplomats to savour Vietnamese tea and treats, including bean cakes, mooncakes, and peanut sweets, showcasing the country’s vibrant tea culture and warm hospitality.

The official emphasised Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification of relations, affirming that the country attaches importance to fostering friendship and multifaceted cooperation with European nations.

She thanked the ambassadors and chargés d’affaires for joining the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s diplomatic service, stressing that the milestone reflects decades of dedication by thousands of diplomats in safeguarding national interests and Vietnam’s global position. Hang also expressed appreciation to international partners for their support for Vietnam in building a proactive, humane, and responsible diplomacy.

The official noted that 2025 marks 35 years of the Vietnam–EU relations, highlighted by the planned signing of a framework cooperation agreement with the EU. She affirmed Vietnam’s desire to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with Europe, towards further deepening relations in a more substantive and effective manner, contributing to peace, security, and development in the world.

International friends extended congratulations to the Vietnamese people on the 80th National Day, praising the nation’s proud history.

They expressed their delight in experiencing Vietnamese tea, noting that it represents not only a culinary tradition but also a message of happiness, peace, cooperation, and shared sustainable development and prosperity among nations./.

Minister of Foreign Affairs receives Japan’s Tochigi Governor

Trung suggested that Tochigi continue to effectively implement signed agreements and further strengthen cooperation in areas that can create new development momentum for Vietnam, such as science and technology, digital transformation, innovation, and the training of high-quality human resources.

PM suggests acceleration of Laos–Vietnam University establishment

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said the two sides should strengthen the teaching and learning of Vietnamese and Lao in both countries, including introducing Vietnamese as an optional foreign language in Lao schools, while continuing academic exchanges and programmes on tradition education to nurture the special bilateral relationship, he said.

Cook Islands attaches importance to ties with Vietnam

Sir Tom Marsters, Representative of King Charles III to the Cook Islands welcomed the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Cook Islands and Vietnam in April 2022, describing it as laying a long-term vision for friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Government sets out coordinated plan for 2026 elections

The plan also aims to ensure that the elections are conducted in a democratic, equal and law-abiding manner, while being safe and cost-effective, truly becoming a nationwide civic event, thus contributing to strengthening and enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the state apparatus and building a socialist rule-of-law state of Vietnam of the people, by the people and for the people.
