Hanoi (VNA) – The Central Steering Committee 35, which is tasked with protecting the Party’s ideological foundation and fighting wrongful and hostile views, held a conference in Hanoi on December 16 to review its performance in 2025 and outline key tasks for 2026.

Speaking at the event, Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member and Permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, praised the efforts and achievements of the Central Steering Committee 35 at all levels over the past year and throughout the current term.

Tu, who is also head of the steering committee, stressed that the committee has played an important role in safeguarding the Party’s ideological foundation, preventing and countering distorted, false and hostile information, and maintaining ideological security in the new context.

He noted that the global and regional situation is forecast to continue changing rapidly and becoming increasingly complex, with potential negative impacts on many countries, including Vietnam. In this context, the task of protecting the Party’s ideological foundation and refuting hostile viewpoints has become more demanding, requiring stronger determination, higher efficiency and more innovative approaches.

The official highlighted that 2026 will be a year marked by major national events, including the 14th National Party Congress and the elections of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. The entire Party, people and armed forces will strive to successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress right from the first year of the new term.

As the core force in ideological protection, the Central Steering Committee 35 and its branches at all levels were urged to continue renewing their working methods, improving the quality of forecasting, and enhancing the effectiveness of prevention, detection and response to toxic and hostile information.

They were also requested to closely follow the directions of the Politburo, the Secretariat and Party General Secretary To Lam to ensure timely and effective implementation of assigned tasks.

Tu underscored the need to raise the quality of advisory work, renew content and forms of communication, and strengthen coordination across the political system. He stressed that the struggle to protect the Party’s ideological foundation is a major political and ideological task involving the entire Party, people, armed forces and political system.

The Party official also called for greater proactiveness in developing action plans and communication strategies during major national events, ensuring that information dissemination is persuasive and effective. He also emphasised the importance of accelerating the application of science and technology, promoting digital transformation, and improving monitoring, inspection and forecasting capacities.

Media agencies were urged to step up communications to foster patriotism, inspire aspirations for contribution, and encourage innovation in governance and administration. Greater attention should also be paid to disseminating preparations for the 14th National Party Congress and the elections of the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels.

Concluding his remarks, Tu highlighted the need to intensify theoretical research and practical review, further improve the theoretical framework on protecting the Party’s ideological foundation, and strengthen education on patriotism, national traditions and revolutionary values. These efforts will help reinforce public trust, promote national unity, and create momentum for Vietnam’s development in the new era, he elaborated./.
