Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh has asked the Cameroonian government to roll out critical measures to preserve the legitimate rights of Vietnamese investors, including the military-run Viettel Group those 3G project is facing difficulties.

The project is the first of its kind in Cameroon, which is expected to not only boost socio-economic growth in the country but also pave the way for other collaboration projects in other fields between the two sides, he said.

Meeting Cameroonian Foreign Minister Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo on September 27 ( New York time) on the sidelines of the 70th UN General Assembly, the Deputy PM stated that Vietnam is keen to boost mutually beneficial cooperation with Cameroon and proposed both countries expand efforts to tap their partnership potential.

Along with increasing exchanges among ministries, localities and businesses, the two sides should begin negotiations for signing an agreement on investment encouragement and protection, and a double taxation avoidance deal, he suggested.

Both should also sign an agreement to grant visa exemptions to diplomatic passport holders, he said.

Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo said his country’s government wishes to foster all-around ties with Vietnam and commits to creating favourable conditions for foreign investors, including those from the Southeast Asian nation.

He pledged that the Cameroonian government would work to settle obstacles hindering the Viettel project.-VNA
