Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son welcomed a delegation from the Japanese Communist Party (JCP) led by Tanaka Yu, Vice Chairman of the Presidium and acting head of the Secretariat of the JCP Central Committee in Hanoi on July 31.
The delegation is in Vietnam for a visit and engagement in the 11th theoretical exchange with the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) on building peace and ensuring human rights in the new world context.
At the event, Deputy PM and FM Son stressed that bilateral relations are now at their strongest, marked by vibrant cooperation across all channels of Party, State, parliament, and people-to-people exchange, and increasingly reinforced ties between the two communist parties.
He urged the JCP to closely coordinate with the CPV to deepen the bilateral ties and elevate the party-to-party relations. He also called for the JCP’s continued support for the Japanese government to ensure the substantive and effective implementation of the Vietnam – Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across all fields, helping Vietnam deliver on its industrialisation and modernisation goals. Additionally, he requested Japan’s support in adopting policies that create equal and favourable conditions for Vietnamese workers in the country.
The Japanese party official, for his part, commended the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its role in strengthening the bilateral and party relations, as well as facilitating people-to-people exchanges. He briefed his host on JCP Chairman Shii Kazuo’s "building peace in East Asia" initiative, which supports ASEAN’s Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) and the principles of non-use of force and peaceful settlement of disputes.
He expressed his appreciation for Vietnam's upcoming role as chair of the 2026 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, indicating his desire to collaborate with Vietnam towards achieving a nuclear weapon-free world.
To nurture the long-standing friendship between the two parties and countries, he emphasised the need to maintain high-level exchanges and sustain the theoretical dialogue mechanism.
He also reiterated the JCP’s support for protecting the legitimate rights of foreigners in Japan, including Vietnamese. Besides, he conveyed the JCP’s wish to continue participating in multilateral events held by Vietnam such as the ASEAN Future Forum./.
