Vietnam-Japan bolster educational cooperation

Hanoi (VNA) - Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long met with Takebe Tsutomu, Special Advisor of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance (JVPFA), in Hanoi on July 17 to discuss the Vietnam-Japan University project and broader educational cooperation.

The Deputy Prime Minister praised Takebe's efforts in promoting Vietnam-Japan relations, particularly in education, human resources development, and cultural exchanges. He expressed his delight at the growing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

For his part Takebe emphasised the importance of the Vietnam-Japan University as a symbol of bilateral cooperation, while expressing his hope for continued support from the Vietnamese government.

He highlighted the university's success, including graduates being hired by Japanese firms. Upcoming plans for the university include IT and human resources training centres, with new programmes like semiconductor engineering set to begin in 2025.

Both sides acknowledged the value of Vietnamese trainees to Japan’s labour force, particularly as Japan faces a demographic decline. Takebe also mentioned the Vietnam Festival in Hokkaido, planned for September 2025, aimed at further strengthening people-to-people ties.

The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed these developments and urged continued collaboration, especially in fields like digital transformation and semiconductor training. He also encouraged deeper local-level cooperation, particularly between Hokkaido and Vietnamese provinces./.

Prime Minister commends Vietnamese students winning international prizes

According to the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), over the past decade, Vietnamese student teams competing in international academic contests have won a total of 434 prizes, including 132 gold, 169 silver and 133 bronze medals, along with certificates of merit. Many students achieved consecutive gold medals over two years, while some secured gold medals when they were 10th graders.

OV community a vital bridge in Vietnam’s international integration, development

The UVAJ President also praised the Party and State’s consistent and comprehensive policies towards overseas Vietnamese, ranging from citizen protection and integration support to encouraging their contributions to national development. In particular, creating conditions for overseas Vietnamese to engage in political, economic and cultural activities at home reflects the spirit of great national unity.

Breakthrough mechanisms, policies for education, training approved

Regarding recruitment, employment and management of human resources in the education sector, the Resolution stipulates that the directors of provincial Departments of Education and Training are authorised to recruit and receive teachers, school managers and staff for public kindergartens, general education institutions, continuing education centres, specialised schools and public vocational high schools in their provinces.

Exhibition highlights vitality of Vietnamese cultural heritage

The exhibition features nearly 200 images showcasing Vietnam’s cultural heritage and efforts to preserve and promote its values in recent years.
