Atthe meeting, two sides agreed to address measures fostering cooperationin various fields as well as furthering the sustainable development ofthe economic-trade relations.

The two leaders said that twocountries will study and build cross-border economic zones, coordinateto tackle difficulties in Chinese projects landing in Vietnam andencourage border localities to enhance exchange and collaboration toenlarge economic activities in the border areas.

Deputy PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc spoke highly of China’s assertion to importVietnamese forestry and agriculture products in addition to supportingVietnam to build infrastructure and develop healthcare and education inborder provinces.

Regarding the East Sea issue, the two sidesagreed to comply with the common perceptions of the two Parties andcountries on effectively controlling differences at sea, avoidingactivities that complicate the circumstances further, strictlyimplementing the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea(DOC) and settling disputes by peaceful measures in line withinternational laws.

Later, Deputy Prime MinisterNguyen Xuan Phuc and Chinese Vice Premier Zhang witnessed the signing ofplan carrying out a cultural agreement between Vietnam and China for2016-2018.-VNA

Vietnam, France see new strides in defence ties

Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang stressed that defence ties, a key pillar of bilateral relationship, have been growing substantively and effectively, with progress in the exchange of all-level delegations, especially those at high level, defence industry, training, and United Nations peacekeeping operations, consistent with agreements reached by leaders and the two defence ministries, plus signed cooperation documents.

Party, State leader calls for consolidation of central steering committees on legal, judicial reform

Consolidating the central steering committees for institutional and legal reform and for judicial reform is necessary in order to streamline organisational structures without reducing responsibilities, while ensuring clear accountability, measurable outputs and concrete results. Following the restructuring, the body will be renamed the central steering committee for institutional improvement and law enforcement, with the Party General Secretary and State President serving as its head.

Reform drive expected to remove barriers, unlock growth momentum
