Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh held a discussion over the phone with Malaysian Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah on March 12 to discuss several issues in bilateral ties.

Regarding the accusation of Vietnamese citizen Doan Thi Huong, who was alleged to have killed an individual from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Malaysia in February 2017, Deputy PM Minh affirmed that Vietnamese leaders and people have been paying close attention to the trial process and its outcomes.

He asked the Malaysian side to ensure fairness for and to set Huong free.

Both ministers affirmed their close coordination in bilateral and multilateral aspects over the years.

They agreed to continue facilitating all-level visits and maintain regular bilateral cooperation mechanisms in order to deepen the Vietnam-Malaysia strategic partnership. –VNA
