Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister and ForeignMinister Pham Binh Minh received outgoing US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius inHanoi on October 31.

Earlier, the US diplomat bade farewell toPresident Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Ted Osius assumed his duties in Vietnam in 2014and is set to works as Vice President of the Fulbright University Vietnam afterleaving office.

His tenure witnessed more mutual visits byVietnamese and US leaders than any other ambassadors, including a historicvisit to the US by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in July 2015, avisit to Vietnam by former US President Barack Obama in July 2016, and a tourof the US by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in May 2017. 

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump is scheduledto attend the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Da Nang city and to pay a visit toVietnam in early November.

Bilateral trade grew from 36 billion USD in2014, when Osius took office, to more than 50 billion USD at present. Total USinvestment in Vietnam has surpassed 10 billion USD. -VNA

Vietnam, US hold virtual ministerial talks on reciprocal trade
