Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh received outgoing US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius in Hanoi on October 31.
Earlier, the US diplomat bade farewell to President Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Ted Osius assumed his duties in Vietnam in 2014 and is set to works as Vice President of the Fulbright University Vietnam after leaving office.

His tenure witnessed more mutual visits by Vietnamese and US leaders than any other ambassadors, including a historic visit to the US by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in July 2015, a visit to Vietnam by former US President Barack Obama in July 2016, and a tour of the US by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in May 2017.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump is scheduled to attend the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Da Nang city and to pay a visit to Vietnam in early November.
Bilateral trade grew from 36 billion USD in 2014, when Osius took office, to more than 50 billion USD at present. Total US investment in Vietnam has surpassed 10 billion USD. -VNA
