Hanoi (VNA)Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam visited and presented gifts to medical staff of Hospital K and poor cancer inpatients in Hanoi’s outlying district of Tan Trieu on February 13.

Together with leaders of the Supportive Fund for Cancer Patients – Bright Future, Deputy PM Dam presented 100 gifts to poor patients, each including 1 million VND in cash.

Talking with leaders of the hospital, Dam wished that the hospital will further improve its service quality by adopting new technology and seeking suitable management model.

Director of the hospital Nguyen Van Thuan said with three facilities, Hospital K now has 1,800 beds, including 1,500 for inpatients and 300 for outpatients, and nearly 1,300 officials and  staff members.

Last year, the hospital offered check-ups and treatment to 390,668 people and adopted technological advances in treatment, thereby raising the total number of surgeries to 21,126, up 37 percent from 2016 and 32 percent from the plan.

In 2018, it will strive to become a special-standard hospital, he said.-VNA
