Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai received visiting Japanese Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Ohta Akihiro in Hanoi on September 13.
The Deputy PM asked the two sides to strengthen cooperation in the transport sector, and Japan to maintain its provision of ODA and preferential loans to Vietnam to develop transport infrastructure.
According to Hai , Japan has remained one of Vietnam ’s important donors in transport infrastructure, with cooperation scope ranging from aviation and maritime to rail and road networks.
Over the past two decades, Japan has provided 12 billion USD in ODA for Vietnam to implement many projects, contributing to the country’s socio-economic development, he said.
Minister Ohta Akihiro affirmed that Japan will assist Vietnam both in capital and expertise to develop infrastructure for the benefit of both countries and Asia.-VNA
