Detailed entry requirements for international visitors to Vietnam

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued Document No. 829/PA-BVHTTDL on its plan to reopen the tourism sector in the new normal.

Hanoi (VNA) – TheMinistry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued Document No. 829/PA-BVHTTDLon its plan to reopen the tourism sector in the new normal.

Regulations on the receptionof international visitors to Vietnam under the document are now much easier than previousproposals submitted by relevant agencies.

* To enter Vietnam,international visitors need to meet the following conditions:

- To be a citizen from the 13following states who will be entitled to 15-day visa exemption regardless of passporttypes and entry purposes, provided they meet all the conditions stipulated byVietnamese law: Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Russia, Japan, theRepublic of Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Belarus. This rule isvalid from March 15, 2022 through March 14, 2025.

- To be foreign nationals, overseas Vietnamese, or relatives who hold sufficient legal papers as regulated(including valid permanent residence cards, temporary residence cards, visas,visa waivers). They do not need to re-apply for personal verification or visaissuance/visa waivers, or apply for entry permission by ministries, sectors, orlocalities.

* Testing and vaccinationrequirements:

- International visitors toVietnam (except for children under 2) need to test negative for SARS-CoV-2prior to their departure by air within 72 hours if using the RT/PCR/RT-LAMPtest method, or within 24 hours if using the rapid antigen test method asverified by competent authorities of the countries conducting the tests.

- Those who enter Vietnam byroad, railway, or sea can take a test before their departure like airpassengers if their travel duration is short. Meanwhile, they need to take atest at ports of entry if their travel duration is long.

- A test is required if aninternational visitor shows COVID-19 symptoms. If the test result is positive,he/she must comply with the Ministry of Health’s guidance.

- The rule that internationalarrivals by air have to undergo another test when entering Vietnam, as well asquarantine requirements, is no longer in place.

* Entry procedures:

- All international arrivalshave to make health declarations at tokhaiyte.vn prior to leaving.

- Installing the PC-COVIDapplication.

* Quarantine requirements:

Within 10 days since theirentry, international visitors have to self-monitor their health. In case of showingsuspected symptoms (fever; cough; sore throat;runny nose, nasal congestion; aches or pains, tiredness, cold; loss of taste orsmell; headache; diarrhea; shortage of breath; respiratory infection), theyhave to immediately report to their nearest healthcare establishment to receivetimely guidance and management while practicing disease prevention measures(frequently wearing face masks, cleaning hands with sanitiser).

* Otherinformation:

-International visitors must have health insurance or travel insurance withcoverage of at least 10,000 USD for COVID-19 treatment.

- Internationalvisitors must pay testing, health quarantine, check-up, and treatment expenses,and others (if any) by themselves.

Do Ha Thao, Secretary in charge of cultural affairs at the embassy, said that visitors show great interest in the Vietnamese booth, asking for information about tours and promotional programmes. Some of the visitors had previously been to Vietnam and wish to return.

Binh Thuan province remains tourist magnet

In the first three months, the province welcomed 2.6 million visitors, including 152,000 foreigners, up nearly 14% and 17% year-on-year, respectively. Tourism revenue surpassed 7 trillion VND, marking a year-on-year rise of 16%.
