Global air, sea and road forwarding firm DHL has rolled out an integrated road freight network that links five key Asian cities of Singapore, Penang (Malaysia), Bangkok (Thailand), Hanoi (Vietnam) and Shenzhen (China) to tap the acceleration of road freight growth in Asia Pacific.

The market is expected to gain a compound annual growth rate of 8.3 percent between 2014-19 to drive the sector to a value of 822 billion USD by the end of 2019.

This integrated road freight network service with improved time and cost efficiencies assures a consistent level of service quality, regardless of the destination.

It will be advantageous for upcoming economic initiatives promoting trade and integration, having laid the groundwork that already links key Asian markets, like the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).

Clement Blanc, managing director, DHL Global Forwarding Vietnam, said: "The Vietnamese market has seen rapid growth over the past decade since its economic transformation, with GDP almost quadrupling from under 50 billion USD in 2004 to 186.2 billion USD last year."-VNA
