Da Nang (VNA) – Vietnamese duo LyHoang Nam and Le Quoc Khanh failed to win their first men’s doubles match atthe Vietnam Tennis Open Da Nang City 2019 on January 7 against Ayeni Alafia ofthe US and Stefan Vujic of Australia.
The Vietnamese pair started strong by taking twobreak points to win 6-3 in the first set, but their opponents earned a break tolead 3-1 before winning the tough second set by a score of 7-5.
In the tie-break, Australian Stefan Vujic showedoff his powerful serves to complete a 13-11 winning set and match.
In the men’s singles matches played on the sameday, Vietnamese-American Daniel Nguyen took a 6-2, 6-4 win over RussianTeymuraz Gabashvili, while overseas Vietnamese Thai Son ousted Yossef Hossamfrom Egypt with a 7-5, 6-4 win.
Vietnamese player Trinh Linh Giang suffered a6-3, 6-4 loss to Avidzba Alen from Russia in the first round.
The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP)’sChallenger Tour will continue with the men’s singles and doubles matches untilJanuary 12.
