Eighth Lao National Assembly opens second session
The eighth Lao National Assembly opened its second session in Vientiane on October 24.
At the event (Source: VNA) In her opening remarks, Lao NA Chairwoman Pany Yathotou said the second session took place at a time when the entire Party, army and people are striving to realise the Party Central Committee’s Resolution, the socio-economic development scheme and the eighth State budget plan for 2016-2020, and prepare for the third plenary session of the Party Central Committee.
The session will discuss and adopt the government’s report on the implementation of the socio-economic development scheme; the 2015-2016 budget and monetary policies and 2016-2017 plan; a report on amending the State budget plan for 2017-2020; the Government Inspectorate’s report on adjusting inspection results for 2013-2014; and the NA Standing Committee’s activities in the last half and the NA’s working plan for 2017.
Other contents for adoption include the election of NA deputies for Savannakhet province, three new bills, 12 amended draft laws and one supplementary one, among others.
Other important issues as proposed by the NA and government will also be put on the table.
The session will last till November 18.-VNA
