Da Nang (VNA) – Emirates Airlines marked a new chapter in its Vietnam operations with the landing of Flight EK370 at Da Nang International Airport at 7:50pm on June 2, inaugurating a new route connecting Dubai and Da Nang via Bangkok.

The service will operate four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, making Da Nang the third Vietnamese city served by Emirates, alongside Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, in its extensive international network.

At the welcoming ceremony, Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh underlined the strategic significance of the new route, which links the central coastal city to over 140 global destinations. The connection is poised to spur growth not only in tourism but also in trade, investment, and cultural exchange, helping to promote Da Nang's image to the world.

To accommodate travellers from the Middle East and other emerging high-spending markets, the department has coordinated with relevant stakeholders to upgrade infrastructure, improve service standards, and implement targeted training programmes. These initiatives include cultural orientation, hospitality protocols, and customised service practices suited to the preferences of visitors from the Middle East. Moreover, efforts are underway to foster collaboration among tourism businesses to facilitate visitor exchange and expand international markets, ensuring long-term, sustainable benefits from the new route.

Nabil Sultan, Emirates’ Executive Vice President for Passenger Sales and Country Management, emphasised that the launch of the Dubai–Da Nang route is a pivotal part of the airline’s Southeast Asia expansion plan. It reinforces Emirates’ commitment to supporting Vietnam’s broader economic and tourism development goals through world-class air connectivity. With Da Nang’s distinctive natural landscapes, rich heritage, and expanding economic prospects, the city represents a key destination in Emirates’ growing network.

Emirates currently ranks as the world’s largest airline by passenger volume and kilometres flown, and second in freight transport by distance. The carrier now operates 25 weekly flights to Vietnam./.
