(Photo: VNA) Bangkok (VNA) – A fashion show with the theme“Vietnamese 'Ao dai' meets Thai silk” took place in Bangkok on December 7.
The show, organised by Vietnam’s Embassy to Thailand, theAssociation of Thai Silk Promotion and the Association of Thai Culture andPromotion, came within the framework of the 3rd Thai Silk International FashionWeek that runs from December 6 to 12.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh saidthat the show was expected to bring new value to the “ao dai” (traditional longdress) so that it will be not only an iconic cultural value of Vietnam but also aVietnamese tourism ambassador to Thai people.
The 3rd Thai Silk International Fashion Week thisyear has a special meaning as a tribute to the 90th birthday of QueenSirikit, the Queen Mother of Thailand.
The event aims at promoting Thai silk and createsopportunities to strengthen cooperation and cultural exchanges between Thailandand other countries, especially in the fields of art, fashion, and textiles.More than 100 Thai and international designers participate in designingcostumes with Thai silk. The event expects to attract designers from 60countries and about 10,000 visitors./.
