FDI projects help develop VN tourism

Since 2000, FDI projects have made a positive contribution to the development of Vietnam’s tourist industry, according to an initial report released by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Since 2000, FDI projects have made a positive contribution to the development of Vietnam’s tourist industry, according to an initial report released by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

These projects focus on developing tourism and human resources in asustainable manner, reduce poverty and protect both the environment andlocal cultures.

Vietnam’s National Administration ofTourism has received the majority of FDI funding and is currentlyoperating 15 projects.

However, the agency pointedout that the tourist industry needs to take immediate action to endtime-consuming licensing procedures and improve the competence ofproject managers as well as building on the success of previousprojects.

In the near future, the sector will soondraw up plans to call for more investment as well as managing andregulating projects in a more effective manner, complying with thenational tourism development strategy for 2020./.
