Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnam-Russia joint venture Vietsovpetro on October 11 witnessed the first commercial oil flow from the BK-24 platform at the Bach Ho (White Tiger) oil field.
The commissioning of the BK-24 platform, 65 days ahead of schedule, marks a significant achievement. It demonstrates Vietsovpetro’s comprehensive capability and proactivity across the entire oil field development value chain, from geological studies and field design to drilling operations and full EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation) implementation, covering design, procurement, construction, installation, connection, and commissioning.
The success of BK-24 is particularly meaningful as it highlights Vietsovpetro’s core strength in developing small and marginal oil fields with optimised costs.
BK-24 is the second field development project Vietsovpetro has completed and put into operation in 2025, following the Kinh Ngu Trang – Kinh Ngu Trang Nam (White Whale – White Whale South) or KNT-KTN oil field development project. The additional crude oil output from BK-24 will play a crucial role in helping Vietsovpetro meet and exceed its 2025 production and business targets, thereby consolidating its leading position within the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam – PVN).
Furthermore, the first oil flow from BK-24 contributes significantly to the State budget and strengthens Vietnam’s national energy security./.
