First level-2 field hospital returns home

The first group of Vietnamese peacekeeping forces from the Level-2 Field Hospital No. 1 arrived back at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport on November 21.

Thrilled to be home and in the welcoming arms of relatives, friends and colleagues, many soldiers could not stop from crying tears of happiness. Mixed with that is a feeling of pride at having carried out their noble mission, contributing to keeping peace in the world.

During its time in South Sudan, the first level-2 hospital examined and treated nearly 1,800 patients, including many serious cases. Vietnamese medical doctors also organized training for local medical units as part of the UN Mission programme in Bentiu. They also coordinated well with military agencies. This created a positive image of Vietnamese soldiers and medical staff among the international community.

After returning home, field combat officers and soldiers will return to their former units. Military Hospital 175 has a plan to mobilize more forces to train and prepare for emergencies./.
