Hanoi (VNA) - The fourth plenary meeting of the 12th Party Central Committee opened in Hanoi October 9, under the chair of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

In the morning of the first working day, Politburo member and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc presented a report of the Government’s Party committee on socio-economic situation in 2016 and tasks for 2017.

Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee Pham Minh Chinh, who is also head of the central committee’s Organisation Commission, presented the Politburo’s proposal on a plan on “Enhancing Party building and rectification; preventing and curbing ideological , ethical and lifestyle degradation, and manifestation of “self-evolution” and “self-transformation” inside the Party”.

Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh presented to the Central Committee the Politburo’s proposal on a scheme on “E ffectively implementing international economic integration while maintaining socio-political stability in the context of Vietnam joining new-generation free trade agreements”.

Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue delivered the Politburo’s proposal on major policies to renew the growth model and increase growth quality, labour productivity, and the competitiveness of the economy.

In the afternoon, participants worked in group, discussing the plan on “Enhancing Party building and rectification; preventing and curbing ideological , ethical and lifestyle degradation, and manifestation of “self-evolution” and “self-transformation” inside the Party”.-VNA
