Fishermen in distress at sea rescued

The National Committee on Search and Rescue reported that bad weather has caused several accidents at sea over the past several days but many fishermen have been saved by border guard forces and fellow fishing ships.

On July 19, the ship TV 2322 with fivefishermen on board suffered from engine failure offshore the southernprovince of Tra Vinh and risked sinking due to strong wind and highwaves. The provincial border guard force dispatched 15 soldiers and aship to the fishermen’s rescue. The fishing vessel and all fishermenwas towed ashore safely.

The same day, 13fishermen on the ship DNa 90385 were rescued four days after theirship’s engine broke down in the waters 60 miles to the northeast of PhuLam island, Hoang Sa archipelagos. The ship DNa 90235 towed the damagedvessel safely to Da Nang City .

On July 18,two ships crashed and sank in the southern waters of Con DaoIsland of southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. Fortunately, all sailorson the two ships were rescued.-VNA
